Mutations in BRCA (BReast CAncer) genes can be passed down from generation to generation, increasing the risk of developing breast cancer, as well as ovarian, pancreatic, and prostate cancers. Heritable BRCA mutations or mutations emerging in the tumors determine the tumor biology; this knowledge has been used to design effective and highly targeted therapies. In this educational webinar, the leaders of Dana-Farber’s Center for BRCA and Related Genes—one of the few dedicated BRCA centers worldwide—discuss how they are working to expand genetic testing for mutations, detect BRCA-related cancers earlier, and develop new therapies for patients with inherited and acquired mutations.
